Agave Eggersiana

Agave eggersiana is an endangered perennial herb known only from the island of St. Croix of the U.S. Virgin Islands. This species can grow up to 22 feet in height and has large, yellow, tube-shaped flowers that produce flattened black seeds. There are only a small number of wild plants remaining on the island.

The greatest threat to this herb is habitat destruction brought on by residential development on private land. Other threats include feral pigs and goats on National Park Service land. Globally, Agave eggersiana is listed as vulnerable and critically imperiled.
