Southgate Coastal Reserve Marine Research & Educational Complex

This plan would utilize SEA’s Southgate Coastal Reserve as part of the development complex. The laboratories and administration buildings could be developed here, incorporating an interpretive center, classrooms and demonstration space, nature walks and blinds. This site is adjacent to Green Cay Marina, which could allow for the research vessels required for the MREC studies and it is also closer to Buck Island, where other marine studies could be conducted. Cart paths could be developed along the south side of SCR to MREC facilities.

There are many advantages for the site including proximity to existing non-governmental facilities:
  1. Green Cay Marina
  2. Small hotels/large hotel
  3. Proximity to Reverse Osmosis from Seven Seas Water facility.
  4. Ecological reserve
  5. Open land for solar and wind power.
