National Park Service Land – Triton Bay area

A viable alternative for the laboratory and administration buildings is the land just east of Triton Bay. This land, designated 101-23 on the attached map, is owned by the VI Government. By locating the MREC center here, students and researchers would still have access to SARI, but without disrupting or potentially destroying the Bioluminescent Lagoon (Bio Bay). The marina required could be built along the southwestern shore of Triton Bay. Roads to this property already exist and will require less new construction to develop. Small student housing could also be situated here, but alternatives to get a “true St. Croix cultural immersion” would be to create campus housing in town or on the University of VI campus.
